Course and CE Info – EMDR Therapy & Cultural Competency

Course Description:

EMDR practitioners are often required to complete cultural competency or cultural diversity training as part of their graduate degrees and as part of their license renewal. They may not have considered, however, how EMDR Therapy is not only an evidence-based and trauma-informed care approach but also a culturally competent form of therapy. This self-directed, interactive e-learning course helps the EMDR practitioner make connections and become a more culturally competent clinician. When given basic constructs and definitions of trauma-informed care, cultural competency, the Adaptive Information Processing model, and EMDR Therapy overall, the participant will be able to demonstrate and apply culturally and linguistically appropriate strategies and techniques with case conceptualizations.

  2. Analyze the relationship between cultural competency and trauma-informed care.
