In the past few months we’ve been talking about EMDR Therapy and highlighting the three words in EMDR Professional Training's tagline:  Engaging. Effective. Essential. We've talked about the first two. Now it's time for the third. So why use the term Essential? The answer is two-fold. EMDR Therapy is Essential. EMDR Therapy and Recent Trauma

Recent trauma is now unlocked with EMDR Therapy. Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) and Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) are both part of a comprehensive approach to Early EMDR Intervention (EEI). Live Virtual Training R-TEP/G-TEP, presented by Josie Juhasz, MA, LPC, is a beginning to intermediate workshop for clinicians who have completed EMDR Basic Training. This live virtual training presented by EMDR Professional Training™ is scheduled for August 29th and 30th, 2020. RTEP addresses recent trauma. The R-TEP/G-TEP workshop incorporates and extends existing protocols within a new conceptual framework, together with additional measures for containment and safety. Mental Health in a COVID-19 World

May is considered Mental Health Awareness Month in the U.S.  Traditionally, it’s a yearly reminder to take care of our mental health in a variety of ways to support the whole person.  For instance, in 2018, Psychology Today featured an article that listed ways to care for your mental well-being with several suggestions related to food and exercise for better overall health.  See the list here. Other sources have also included suggested therapeutic activities such as coloring or taking walks. While these suggestions are certainly good advice (yes, hydrate and try some probiotics), it’s not the full list by any means.  Of course, those of us working in the mental health profession know much more is needed to help people move from just ok to thriving.
