EMDR Basic Training is an extensive training which covers the history, theories, and protocols of EMDR therapy. It also involves several practicums with facilitators as well as a series of group consultations. The training, at 57 hours total training time, is a robust and complete training, giving you background and history, theoretical knowledge, and clinical skills you need to begin using EMDR therapy with your clients immediately. Ten hours of consultation are built into our EMDR Basic Training for further practical application and readiness. Our training is an EMDRIA approved training with 47 professional CEs. Our goal is that you not only learn about EMDR therapy, but also begin to use it in your clinical practice.
Clinicians find that training in EMDR therapy is worth the cost because the training is comprehensive and includes several practicum sessions as well as 10 hours of consultation. Because of the clinical nature of EMDR Basic Training, participants find that they can immediately begin to use EMDR therapy in their clinical practice. As the training progresses, the material and practicums focus on more complex situations and a variety of populations, so participants can utilize the appropriate protocols in multiple scenarios.
On a practical level, the cost of EMDR Basic Training is commensurate with the level of active and practical learning as well as the amount of continuing education training involved, all standardized by EMDRIA. Also, the tuition falls well within the range of other CE courses, since CEs generally cost between $35 and $50 per CE. Considering these factors, EMDR Basic Training is worth the cost.
The EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) has created standards for training and certification of EMDR therapy clinicians. When you are trained by an EMDRIA approved trainer in an EMDRIA approved program, you’re are assured that your training meets the highest standards of EMDR therapy training supported by years of research and practice. When you complete an EMDRIA approved training, you become eligible to move to the next step of EMDR Certification after your Basic Training.
